WEALTH MINDSET SHIFT, Create Your Dream Life

Having financial freedom/abundance is one of my favorite part in creating my dream life. I know most of you will agree when I say that money will make our life very comfortable. Having enough money so you don’t have to stress over your bills, to support your passion projects, to buy your dream home, to travel the world and the list goes on.

But still, a lot of people would rather complain and come up with different excuses as to why they can’t reach their full potential because of lack of money.

I would often hear young adults complain about how hard it is to make money or even save up for their emergency fund. I would see comments like “sana all may ipon”, “naol”, or messages like: “sis, pautang”, “friend, beke nemen”, or worse, “ate, baka may work ka dyan for me”

But whenever I open up about money opportunities, ALMOST ALWAYS, I would see replies like this:

“Okay sana yan kung may extra pero wala talaga. Sakto lang pera, minsan nga kulang pa.”

I, TOO, KNOWS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO FEEL BROKE

Just a few years ago, I was really struggling financially. I can fully remember that one afternoon when I open my coin bank (yes, I didn’t have a bank account that time), I only have a 1000-peso bill left ( Yesss literally 1k bill, no more no less). LIKE WHAT THE FUCK!!!

I HOLD THAT 1,000-peso bill and I prayed:

Lord God, I really have nothing left but this 1,000-peso bill. I entrust everything to you. Bless this 1k-bill and multiply this so I can help, not just myself, but others as well.

That one glorious moment – that moment when everything around me stops, and I saw myself…and from that, I knew that this has to end for me to rewrite my story.

Of course, abundance isn’t all about money – but because money seems to be something that we struggle with, and that’s what I want to talk about today.

Having a wealth mindset is directly linked to living a life of abundance. But when it comes to money, often our thoughts lead us to lack rather than plenty.

Here are tips that will set you on the journey to a wealthy mindset:

1. Change Your Negative Thoughts About Money

To begin with, you have to set yourself up for success.  Just like in losing weight, you need to regularly workout and eat healthy food. You need to condition your body to not miss your workout session and stock your fridge with the right foods, get rid of the bad stuff so you’re not tempted in a moment of weakness. You need to be aware of what you feed your mind to develop your wealth mindset.

While I like to think that I have a pretty healthy relationship with money — I save, I try to stick to a budget, I make money work for me — I still have negative thoughts about my income. No one is perfect. No matter our financial situation, we all have those negative thoughts, but what’s important is that we recognize them so we can change and do something about them.

My personal limiting beliefs are I HAVE TO WORK REALLY HARD TO EARN MONEY and MAKING MONEY IS VERY SERIOUS, NOT MEANT TO BE FUN!

Whenever I have these again in my head, it quickly leads me to burnout. I get very anxious about my future. I lose my creative energy and worse, I tend to procrastinate and miss out on the most important things in life.

So here, I change it to:

“I can make money doing what I really enjoy. Money comes easily to me.”

It wasn’t easy at first. But with practice, I’ve noticed that making money became easier for me. I become more creative and focused. I attract more opportunities, I gain connections, I met successful people, and come up with ideas that will help me multiply my resources.

Doing what you love and loving what you do is the key to success. Money is just the result of your success and not the other way around.

2. Be Clear On Your Financial Goals.

Setting financial goals means getting clear on why you want the money, what you intend to spend it on, and how great it will feel once you finally have it in your possession.

The more specific you can get with these details, the better — like saving up for your Investment Fund, that watch that you’ve been wanting to have, or for the down payment for your dream home.

These goals are meant to give you something concrete to work on, plus you get to visually track the numbers. When you see it, you get to appreciate it and look after it.

Having a wealth mindset means being aware of where your money is and where it’s going. Thus, this will keep you motivated to consistently work on your finances.

3. Practice Gratitude

Practicing gratitude is one of the most powerful and widely recognized tools for creating abundance and happiness.

The Law of Attraction says that you attract more of what you focus on. When you’re grateful, you are intentionally, purposefully focused on good things that have come into your life.

When you are in a state of gratitude, it puts you in a very high frequency and connects you to Source Energy, which puts you in a powerful state of manifesting more things and experiences into your life.

As Wallace Wattles explains in his book “The Science of Getting Rich”:

You cannot exercise much power without gratitude; for it is gratitude that keeps you connected with Power.”

Which simply means: YOU’RE PRACTICALLY POWERLESS WITHOUT GRATITUDE

The more consistently you stay in gratitude, and focus on the good, the stronger your connection to the Source, the more quickly and effortlessly you’ll be able to manifest and create your dream life.

TRY THIS: Keep a gratitude journal and write down what you are genuinely grateful for every day. Aim to record at least 10 items. If you get stuck, remember to list the simple things that often get overlooked such as the comfortable bed you sleep in, a hot shower, the clean air you breathe, or even just the chance to live for this day.

4. Believe in ABUNDANCE

Believe that there is plenty of everything in the world from resources, love, relationships, wealth, and opportunities. Always believe that you can afford or have the things you want in life.

Those with a lack mentality prefer to believe that there are limited opportunities, resources, relationships, love, and wealth.

AND YES I’m guilty of this, too. HUHUHU. I would often hear myself saying ‘I cannot afford that…’ which in turn, just had reflected in my payslip.

Speaking of payslip, don’t let your income determine whether you feel prosperous or not. Abundance is not determined by how much you have right now – it’s determined by how you feel about what you have right now.  Sure, there may be things you can’t afford, but focus on what you have, and you’ll find, as if by magic that abundance finds you, not the other way around.

5. Give And Be Open to Receive As Well

The universe operates through dynamic exchange . . . THIS IS A LAW OF THE UNIVERSE. Giving and receiving are different aspects of the flow of energy in the universe. And in our willingness to give and receive, we keep the abundance circulating in our lives.

IN SHORT, we must give and receive in order to keep abundance.

Some of you may say, “I’d love to do that, but how can I give to others when I don’t have enough for myself?… or “My expenses are too high, there is no way I can give.”

AGAIN, there is nothing you lack. By default, we are creatures of Abundance. You are inherently affluent no matter how much or how little money you have because the source of all wealth is THE UNIVERSE.  Whatever that comes to you isn’t something you earn, but a gift freely given by God.

6. Do Things That Will Make You Feel Wealthy

Now that you have programmed your mind with ABUNDANCE, it’s now time to act on it. Allow yourself to have and experience nice, fancy things without the guilt – like that 1-hr full body massage, an expensive hair treatment, or buy yourself that pair of red stilettos.

This doesn’t mean that you should go into debt in order to experience these things – that will definitely NOT MAKE YOU FEEL WEALTHY.

What I mean is that you should accept the reality that ABUNDANCE is ENERGY. If you feel wealthy in enjoying a cup of tea in a fancy coffee shop, buy or wear high-quality clothing that you can afford (pwede naman UKAY hehe), then do it. It will definitely make you feel good about yourself, attract more abundance and make you feel more successful.

The best part of developing a wealth mindset is that you can start immediately and apply this in all aspects of your life. The key is to start small and doing it consistently – like compound interest, these small habits build up over time will further your progress toward your goals.  (I had discussed this concept in my previous blog here.)

And that’s it for now, My Loves! Thank you so much for reading this month’s post. My hope is that we become more financially savvy and equipped with an abundance mindset.

Wishing you guys all the best.
